Survival 2020

This year has been interesting so far my family and I have survived but the year isn't over yet and I am scared for the future to come.  Covid which has affected everyone has hit my family and community very hard but to top it off we are now faced with a wild fire that could wipe out our mountain. I live in a small village called Red Feather Lakes in Northern Colorado. In the first weeks of August the Chambers Lake fire broke out about 15 miles from my home, now the fire is only 5 miles away and getting closer. I work at a resort called Beaver Meadows where we are allowing the Fire Fighters to stay as they build a fire line that goes through the back woods of our resort. If this fire were to reach .5 miles of our resort there would be no saving it. For the like 10 years we have been battling a tree beetle that has been eating away at our forest leaving us with miles of dead trees. Local residents have been trying our hardest with mitigation but once it comes to the National Forest there's not much hope. Hospitality is my life and back in March i finally saved up the cash to open my own catering business and be able to serve the locals, elderly and feed guests at weddings. One week before I planned to launch it Covid hit and shut down everything. If you thought it was hard to find resources in a big city it was worse in a village 1.5 hours from the nearest market. After that school was cancelled leaving me having to be a teacher, lost my job and everything was flushed down the toilet.  I am a very optimistic person, I do what I can to help my community which is amazing but we as a whole are struggling. The resort I work for which has been open since  the 60's if looking at closing their doors, we're down to 6 employees and dozens of cancelled reservations. I need help, my mountain needs. Please I go to the food banks once a week to help out my neighbors, I cook daily for the fire fighters and I cant make my rent this month. Anything would help and mean the world to my son and I. Thank you.
