My name is Amy and I am twelve years old. The hardest thing for any military kid is finding "home..." My three brothers and I were all born in different places. I don't live where I'm "from"...whatever that means. Yet here in Saint Louis, Missouri I feel that I have finally found that sense of belonging somewhere. I have found a second family here, and that is something I have never been able to achieve. Who is this second family, you might wonder? Well, to me my second family is my soccer family. I have been playing soccer for a total of 10 years and never before have I ever been so greatly blessed with such an amazing place to be apart of as Saint Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club (SLSG). From the first day I walked onto that field, I felt that feeling that can only be explained as "right". Coach Nick Caruso was the first trainer I had when I joined this soccer club. Not only did he guide me through training that was new and completely unfamiliar, but he also showed me how to play at my best. The thing that is rare about Coach Nick is that he didn't just do this for me, he has done this for every single one of his players in the Performance Training Center (PTC) for the last five years...hundreds of kids. So now that you understand just how much the PTC means to me and so many others, you can see how devastating it was for us in December 2015, when the flood of the Meramec River submerged this special place in nearly twenty feet of water.
Coach Nick has always taught us to "try", so here I am trying my best to help bring back the PTC. It won't be easy, but with your support I believe we can do just that.
