Ryan Fitzsimmons Memorial

Donation protected
My name is Megan Goetz and Ryan has been a dear friend of mine since grade school. We grew up together in St. Charles, IL.

On Saturday May 12, 2018 this world tragically lost another young truly beautiful soul to the disease of addiction.   Myself and Ryan's family refuse to allow the loss of Ryan Fitzsimmons to become just another faceless statistic that has devastatingly become a daily occurrence in this country.  In losing Ryan, we lost so much.  Ryan was a son, stepson, brother, brother in law, uncle, nephew, grandson and dear friend to so many.  Ryan was a loving, charismatic, funny person with so much to offer the world.  People were drawn to his charming personality and contagious laugh and smile.  He had the ability to make anyone in his presence feel special.  He was incredibly outgoing and likable.   He loved sports, working out at the gym, music and spending time with his friends and loving family.
Along with all of these amazing positive qualities Ryan also struggled.  At times he struggled privately and at other times more publicly.  Along with millions of others around the world Ryan battled alcoholism and drug addiction throughout much of his life.  Although he fought long and hard against the demons of addiction he ultimately lost that battle and his life.

The disease of addiction can affect anyone.  If you are lucky enough not to suffer from addiction yourself it is likely that you have a family member, a friend, a co-worker or acquaintance that unfortunately does.  After Ryan is put to rest, his family and friends would like to plant a beautiful tree and have a plaque and bench put in a serene and scenic place.  We will do this in dedication to the memory of Ryan Fitzsimmons, whose life touched so many.  We also want to dedicate this place to anyone who has lost a loved one to addiction, anyone who is currently suffering or in recovery, and generally to anyone who has had alcoholism and addiction affect their lives.

We would like to put Ryan's memorial together as soon as possible and when it is together welcome everyone wanting to sit and remember Ryan.  Or anyone wanting to sit and reflect on who and what they have lost to the awful disease of addiction, in hopes that they may find some peace and serenity there.

Ryan's mom, Karen Fitzsimmons and sister, Nikki (Fitzsimmons) Ryan plan to do any and everything  in their power to remove the stigma of addiction and help others and families of others suffering from this disease in any  way possible.  Not one more life needs to be lost and Ryan's whole  family intends to do all they can to help stop the stigma of addiction and to encourage anyone suffering to reach out for help.

The funds will be handled by Karen Walker Fitzsimmons and Nikki (Fitzsimmons) Ryan.
-Ryan, you have been a part of nearly my entire life.  I love you like a brother and will miss you every day from now until we meet again.
Thank you for your love, thank you for showing me the true meaning of friendship. - Meg
