In memory of Anushka

Anushka was a uniquely bright soul, who touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness and joy. When she unexpectedly passed away as the result of a pulmonary embolism in the early hours of December 13th, 2020, it was a shock to all of us. Anushka touched our lives profoundly and her friends and loved ones want to create a tangible memorial to her so we can honour her memory.

There are several projects we would like to support:

First: A donation to Serendipity Farm and Sanctuary, an alpaca/llama rescue farm south of Ottawa. Those who spent time with Anushka, quickly learned of her special love for these funny, furry animals. We’re looking at having either a plaque or a bench put in along one of the llama walk paths. 

If this fundraising goal is met:

Second: A tree planted in her name at one of her favorite Ottawa parks (ideally Commissioner’s Park where she loved to go during the Tulip Festival), and if donations allow, a plaque to honour Anushka. The fundraising goal for this is $400 for the tree.



Finally, any additional donations beyond these two projects will be given to the University of British Columbia through their memorial program. Anushka loved her time at UBC, particularly with the UBC Arts Co-op Program and the Sociology Students Association.
