Running to raise money for Canadian Adaptive Climbing!
Donation protected
Well hello,
My name is Alice and along with my wonderful friend Shona we are running the Lap the Bluffs race on September 15th. This is a 6 hour relay where we will try and do as many laps as possible. The course is pretty gritty so will be a hard day.
Now, why just run a race when you can use it to have an impact? That's what we are doing. What is Canadian Adaptive Climbing Society?
The Canadian Adaptive Climbing Society aims to make climbing accessible to everyone.
Across Canada, starting in Vancouver and Toronto, they are developing climbing programming for leisure, adventure and therapy.
The mission is to create opportunities for individuals living with barriers to benefit from climbing, and their vision is that ‘Everyone Can Climb’.
The ultimate goal is to make the climbing community a more inclusive and accessible place for anyone who has a barrier.
This really resonated with me in particular since two years ago I set up Friday Night Lights (FNL) in Squamish. FNL is a two hour slot on Friday evenings during winter where a bunch of people come giggle, make friends, and climb with friendly faces. The idea was to take the seriousness and perceived elitism of Squamish climbing and put it in the bin and replace it with a Friday evening of silliness and community. So a charity that wants to help those with barriers that may be more physical is one that deserves more attention and support.
We are asking you all to either donate $X/lap or if you'd prefer just give a lump sum donation.
Just comment on my Instagram page @theonlyaliceinwonderland if you'd like to donate per lap and on the day we will keep you informed of how many we get through. Also feel free to comment if you want to show support, share with friends, come cheer us on!
