Acorns Children’s Hospice is a cause deeply personal to our family.

Our beautiful daughter, Clara, was diagnosed with Mitochondrial disease at birth. She spent many wonderful days at Acorns in Worcester before she sadly passed away. Her short time with us was filled with joy, magic, and comfort entirely because of the incredible staff and facilities at Acorns. I am running the London Marathon to repay a fraction of the profound gratitude we hold for the respite care they gave us—and continue to give families today.

But Clara’s story didn't end there. After she passed, a biopsy allowed her to become part of the pioneering 100,000 Genomes Project. Because of her contribution to science, we were blessed three years later with news that we were eligible for PGT treatment.

Today, Clara’s ultimate legacy is her healthy little sister, Cecelia, who turns 5 this year.
