Running for Badger Honor Flight

Hello to all, my name is Ricky Schiff and here is a little background about myself. I grew up on a family farm in Northern Wisconsin. Upon graduating from Northwestern High School in 2017, I enlisted in the United States Air Force. The military has always been close to my heart. My grandfather, Robert Schiff, who passed away from lung cancer in 1998, served in the U.S Army during World War II. My father Richard Schiff, who passed away from lung cancer in December of 2013, served in the U.S Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Recently while been stationed in the east coast, some friends and I traveled to Washington D.C and spent the day seeing the amazing historical monuments, national museums, and beautiful World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and Arlington National Cemetery. Upon returning home, I signed up to run the Madison Half Marathon. That is when I learned about Badger Honor Flight. Badger Honor flight is an affiliate of the National Honor Flight. The main mission of this amazing foundation is to give terminally ill veterans of World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, or any terminally ill veteran from any war the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. to see the beautiful war memorials that have been dedicated in their honor. The Madison Half Marathon is November 10th, one day before Veterans Day. I thought it would be timely and an amazing idea to dedicate my half marathon run to the Badger Honor Flight. Running the race for this cause means so much to me, not just because I am a service member, but because I know my grandfather and father would have loved the opportunity of see the memorials for which they fought for if alive today. I am going to kick off the fundraising with a $100 donation, with the goal of raising $1000. Please support me in my half marathon race and help raise $1000 dollars to help give our beloved terminally ill veterans the opportunity to witness memorials in their honor.
