On 12th April I will be running my very first marathon — the Boston Marathon — to raise money for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, in memory of two very special little ones, Douglas Phillip North and Agatha Erica Brewster

Sands provides vital support to families facing the unimaginable loss of a baby, and works to improve bereavement care and fund research to save babies’ lives. One of the many ways donations help families is through the provision of cold cots.

Cold cots are specially designed cooling systems that allow parents to spend precious extra time with their baby after they have passed away. In moments of overwhelming grief, this time can mean everything — giving families the chance to hold their baby, say goodbye at their own pace, and create memories that they will carry forever.

By running this marathon, I hope to honour Douglas and Agatha, support their families, and help Sands continue providing comfort, care and understanding to others going through similar heartbreak.
