Once upon a time, there was a little boy called Luke.

Luke’s mummy and daddy wanted him to learn, laugh and live life to the full at his local preschool in Liverpool, Pavilion.

In Pavilion, he found a wonderful, dedicated team of teachers, assistants and managers who wanted nothing more than to give him and his friends the best start in life.

Pavilion Preschool has been devoted to nurturing and growing happy and confident learners ever since its humble beginnings in the grounds of Pavilion cricket club almost 50 years ago. Through many different guises as the years have tumbled by, it has been the love and care poured into every day by dedicated and experienced professionals that has remained constant.

An important part of this magic is the preschool's not-for-profit, registered charity status, meaning every penny is re-invested into the provision of care, education and play. Added to this, they are run by a voluntary committee of parents and carers, who work hard to support our highly qualified and committed staff team.

But they wanted to grow into something bigger:

·  They dreamed of becoming leader in Early Years learning and being a hub for the community, serving families with children of all ages and local businesses

· They imagined a new purpose-built building, suitable for offering preschool sessions, breakfast and after school clubs, plus family and community groups and holiday clubs

· They pictured a new outdoor space where children  could play and explore safely

· They wanted to create a place where children could learn together through a journey of play and discovery, stopping along the way to marvel at the beauty of the world.  Holding hands on a learning journey of adventure and play.

But to make these dreams come true, they needed some funding.

They are working hard to raise the money to create this new centre for the community, but they need a little bit of help.

So on May 26th, during the Liverpool Marathon, I will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest ever marathon…

…dressed as a fisherman.

This is an official world record attempted that has been approved and will be verified by the Guinness Book of Records. The time to beat is 4 hours and 45 minutes.

This may not sound too bad, but for the record to be broken, I will need to complete the race in full costume:

- Waterproof trousers, jacket and hat
- Knee-high rubber waders
- Carrying a 3kg fishing box

So if you would like to get involved and support this great cause, all you need to do is click ‘donate’.

All I  need to do is get my waders on...

Thank you so much,

Freddie Bennett & The Pavilion children and staff
