Ruby Grace was born on December 9, 2017 with Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele. She had 2 surgeries within 5 days of her birth. That’s more than most people will have in a lifetime. She is such a strong girl and was able to go home after only 13 days in the NICU.

Bennett and Morgan were able to enjoy three wonderful weeks with Ruby at home. Then she started eating a little less and showing some other signs that they weren’t sure were “normal” baby things or something else. They decided to take her back to Children’s Mercy to have her checked out. Her breathing and swallowing were regressing so they were admitted to the NICU. Ruby has undergone numerous tests, ultra sounds, x-rays, CT scans, an MRI and an EEG. So far there is no definitive answer as to what is causing her regression. Bennett and Morgan are such strong advocates for Ruby’s care and are not giving up until they get answers for their girl.

With all the stress they are currently under we’d like to ask our friends and family to help relieve a little bit of their financial burden. We can all imagine how stressful and draining their time in the NICU is with no answers or relief for Rue Rue. We just hope this is one way we can help them on their journey to get Rue back home where she belongs!
