Quad VETS Transitional Housing for homeless veterans on the brink of closing
Quad Area Community Action Agency, Inc. is a private non-profit 501c (3) that administers the Quad VETS program. Quad VETS is a transitional housing center in Hammond, Louisiana with the motto, “They fought for us. We fight for them,” Quad VETS has been a lifeline to homeless veterans for nearly 20 years. Thousands of veterans fighting personal battles long after their service to our country has ended have accessed Quad VETS housing and wrap-around support services, such as meals, clothing, transportation to jobs and medical appointments, addiction and recovery programs, life skills, employment, financial counseling, and so much more. All of which are free of charge to our residents. Due to COVID 19, Hurricane Ida and other issues out of our control, our budget has taken a huge hit, so we are on the cusp of having to permanently close the doors to Quad VETS. Losing access to this valuable program will have a devastating impact on veterans who are currently experiencing homelessness and the current residents of Quad VETS. Veterans just like Mr. Henry.
Henry Simoneaux is a veteran of the Korean War who was left homeless following the death of his beloved wife. Her medical bills resulted in Mr. Henry declaring bankruptcy, causing him to lose his home. Mr. Henry has been living at Quad VETS for years, being cared for, but that comfort and stability are now in danger.
The same is true for John London, who fell on hard times due to an addiction that eventually led him to homelessness. Wanting to get off the street, he cried out for help, and it was Quad VETS who came to his rescue with housing and recovery programs.
These are just two stories of thousands we have of men who needed help, and for almost 20 years, Quad VETS was there for them. That’s why we desperately need your help to continue our mission of serving homeless veterans because, without Quad VETS, the future is dim for heroes who fought for this country.
