Roz Helps Babies in Uganda

UGANDA!!!! I still can’t believe it!

I have always had a heart for service and volunteering -  It’s just in my blood.  I can remember applying to colleges knowing I wanted to be a nurse and getting asked left and right if that was something I had really thought about.  People would say, “Have you really thought about what a nurse actually does?”   What I did know, was that nursing was a career that could take me anywhere I wanted to go and allow me to help as many people as possible.  That was enough for me!  After college, I landed in the Neonatal ICU setting by chance, and it turned out to be the best decision of my career!

In this field, we have the opportunity to care for the most innocent, most precious little ones that anybody could ask for.  They all come into this world with a story – some accidental and some with years of heartache in trying to conceive.  Once they’re born, it’s up to us to continue their life story and make sure they survive outside of mommy.

I recently met a young woman through my cousin who I was so excited to meet.  We chatted about her career, her goals, and how she volunteers in Uganda as often as she can.  I was in awe at her story and experience and I was envious of the good that she has had the opportunity to provide; not only in the states but also abroad in Africa.  I mentioned to her that serving in Africa was always something I dreamed to do, but never got around to doing.  Then – a few weeks later I received a text from her… “want to go to Uganda in December?”  The answer on my heart was OMG YES! BE THERE IN 5 MINUTES!  But my head started saying, “Are you willing to take the risk? You’re not 22 anymore.  Do you have the funds? What if something happened to you over there? Would you ever forgive yourself?  It’s during the Christmas season too!”  (and on and on and on).  But with lots of prayer, and a great support system, I swiped RIGHT on this amazing experience.

My goal is to volunteer my skills to a world of people who aren’t as lucky as we are to have decent hospitals, health insurance, and a community of support.  I would love to raise enough money to not only support my travel, but to donate to One World Health Organization. This goal is $6,000.  This will help me with travel expenses and provide additional funds to the One Organization.  My goal is to raise as much money as possible so that we can all help provide basic, and advanced care to this part of the world that doesn’t have access to it.  With your donations we can all be a part of this journey together.

Thank you for hearing my story!  I look forward to partnering with you, and One World Health Organization on this amazing opportunity.

XOXO,
Roz
