Rowan the Sunshine Girl's Emergency Vet Bills

Rowan is a 2-year-old Vizsla and my very best friend. She is my entire world.

About 1-2 months ago, Rowan had a couple of seizures. I took her to the vet to be evaluated, and she was diagnosed with Epilepsy and started on seizure medication. I was crushed by the diagnosis but very glad it could be treated and managed.

Unfortunately, on August 9th, Rowan took a turn for the worst with severe neurological decline. She started walking abnormally, struggling to keep her head up, having incontinence, and drooling excessively. She also developed a rash on her underside. I rushed her to the emergency vet for evaluation, and she was worked up and sent home, assuming she had an Epileptic episode. She received medications that night, as well.

The next morning, Rowan was still very sick, struggling neurologically, and was now struggling to breathe, drooling puddles, and running snot out of her nose. We were advised to return to the emergency vet to be further worked up. At this time, she was found to have inflammation in her heart, the beginnings of pneumonia, and Neosporosis.

She began aggressive treatment for Neosporosis, as this can have a bad outlook for many dogs. She seemed to improve neurologically over the weekend but has taken another nosedive as of August 14th. The sores on her underside are spreading to her face, her mouth, gums, ears, legs, and even the bottoms of her paws. The concern is that it is spreading in her organs and nervous system, as well.

We had another trip to the emergency vet on the 14th, and they added one more medication, which is the only other thing that can be used to treat Neosporosis. We desperately need this medication to start taking effect or she may not survive as the infection spreads more and more.

Rowan is a very special dog: the kind of dog that people fall in love with everywhere she goes. She is sweet, affectionate, silly, and the most loving soul. I love her with all of my heart; she is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I am in college, and her vet bills have been very expensive, especially knowing that there are certainly more to come as we fight this disease. Any little bit helps and will go directly to saving my sunshine girl and making sure she gets every possible intervention.
