Rothley Law National Three Peaks Challenge

And they’re off…

Well, before we get to that part it’s probably worthwhile rewinding back about 12 months where our very own Rebecca Bristow and Lucy Taylor were putting the final touches to their London Marathon preparations. The rest of us listened on to their training stories, injuries and plans, and whilst we all agreed that running the London marathon for charity was very admirable, it was a step, more specifically 26 miles and 385 yards too far for us to even consider attempting.

A spark had however been ignited and over the coming weeks conversation evolved regarding a possible challenge and fundraising opportunity that we could all be involved in which culminated in the decision that we attempt the National Three Peaks Challenge. The irony is not lost on us that whilst put off by the idea of actually running a marathon, we have somehow now agreed that covering the equivalent distance across the highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland, in who knows what sorts of conditions – and all in 24 hours, is somehow a more appealing and attractive option.

And so we set about pulling a team together and planned out our challenge which we will be attempting in September 2024.

We are delighted to be supporting Headway Birmingham & Solihull in our fundraising efforts this year and hope to raise much needed funds for them to continue their excellent work in promoting understanding and providing information and support for people living with brain injuries, their families and carers. We work with clients who have benefited from local Headway charities across the country, and so the opportunity to work with the local branch in this challenge is one that we can’t wait to complete.

Our challenge team represent all three of the service areas at Rothley Law Ltd: Court of Protection, Private Wealth and Disputed Wills and Trusts. We have nine hikers and two drivers taking part, and we will be reliant on the support of the rest of our colleagues in our fundraising efforts throughout the year as well as on the challenge day itself.

We are also thrilled to be joined by our corporate sponsors - PLG. Phill Gill has volunteered his services as a co-driver and we look forward to working with Phill and his team in our planning and fundraising.

We have set ourselves a fundraising target of £2000, this amount will make a huge difference to Headway Birmingham and Solihull who advised that £2000 would enable them to provide a day’s worth of rehabilitative activities at their centres and out in the community for 20 people with brain injury and offer specialist physiotherapy or speech & language support at their new wellbeing suite to a further 6 people.
