Help end loneliness for older people

Rochdale Cycling Without Age is raising funds to purchase a specially adapted bicycle (Trishaw) to take older people with limited mobility who are feeling isolated or lonely out on bicycle rides in parks or country areas.
Throughout the pandemic we have all had a taste of what it feels like to be confined indoors with little or no physical contact with our family and friends for long periods of time. We are all looking forward to a time when we can resume contact with other people - imagine how it feels if this is never going to happen for you.
According to the Campaign to EndLoneliness there are 1.2 million chronically lonely older people in the UK. They also highlight that loneliness has an impact on your health and wellbeing, increasing your risk of death by 26%.
Rochdale Cycling Without Age wants to give back to those who have given to us by supporting older people who cannot get out and about on their own to get out on bicycle rides so that they can feel the wind in their hair, connect with nature and connect with other people.
The rides will be completely free, comfortable and fully insured. The project is run solely by volunteers to keep running costs to a minimum and the funds raised will be used to purchase a Trishaw as soon as possible so that we can start taking people out on rides in spring.
It would mean a lot to us if you could contribute to our cause and support an older person to reconnect with the world after such a horrible 2020.
