Robert Westfield - Medical Cost Help
Many of you have asked how to help our beloved Robert following his accident. His close friends raised the idea of a way for folks to contribute funds if they can and want. After much convincing discussion, Robert agreed.
If you don’t yet know, Robert was in a hit-and-run accident on May 27, 2021. He doesn’t remember what happened, but woke up in the hospital with broken ribs, sternum and shoulder blade along with a lot of scrapes, cuts and bruises. Thankfully his internal organs are okay, including that enormous heart and brilliant brain!
Robert spent a few scary days in the hospital and is finally home. His brother, Brian, is staying with him now. Next week, the recovery begins. He has a long road ahead and needs support with the mountain of medical bills from the hospital and follow up visits. He has medical insurance, but it isn’t nearly enough to cover the tests, scans, co-pays and related expenses.
Robert said that this is all so ironic because a major reason he launched the Storied City book project was to avoid a Go Fund Me for financial relief after losing more than a year of income due to the pandemic. Then just two days after the publication of The Sightseers, he was hit by a vehicle. He now faces a steep new challenge he never could have imagined.
Robert is surrounded by a huge village of love, for which he is deeply grateful. He was reluctant to let us launch this Go Fund Me drive because he knows so many people are so much worse off than he. If you’d like to contribute, please do. If you prefer to help in other ways, or can’t give right now, that’s all good too. You can also pass this on to others. As he recovers, he will be able to visit, call and get back to everyone who has already started the chain of loving messages on FB and by text. Thank you everyone for showing such love to our Robert. ❤️
