Robert Maverick Cruz's Heart

Donation protected

On October 1st, 2016 a beautiful baby boy was born. Robert Maverick Cruz, 6lbs 6oz.

Mom and Dad with family and friends welcomed him into this world unaware of his multiple heart defects. Maverick has been diagnosed with a critical aortic stenosis, a bicuspid aortic valve and a very narrowed outflow tract below his aortic valve. One being, very time sensitive and needing to be surgically repaired as soon as possible.

On October 2nd Maverick was transported to Medical City Children’s Dallas Hospital, while his mother was still recovering at Richardson Methodist.  He had his aortic valve ballooned and the narrowing of his aorta surgically removed. He was then expected to recover and go home with plans of open heart surgery in the far future.

Unfortunately, his heart has not been able to pump enough blood to his body and organs, making it very difficult for Maverick to breathe without oxygen support.  He has been on oxygen assistance, while also very dependent on an IV medication, milrinone. At this point Maverick has already failed three attempts of weaning from the oxygen in order to go home.

Over three months later the doctors have come to the conclusion that Maverick will need to have open heart surgery sooner than expected.  His surgical options are very high risk due to his age and the condition of his heart.

His mother, Samantha had financially prepared to be away from work for 12 weeks without pay. Due to the fact that Maverick is still not able to go home as originally expected and is being scheduled to have another surgery, Samantha is not able to return to work. His father, Robert has still been able to work some, when he can be a way from the hospital.

Because of this, they have reached a point that they could not have ever been financially prepared for. The primary concern will be making sure that they can continue to pay for their monthly premiums for insurance. This way, Mavericks medical bills will continue to be covered as much as possible. They are in need of help to make up the difference from Samantha not being able to work. Any amount will help lighten the financial burden of everyday expenses and bills (Mortgage, car payment, and insurance).

In this time of tribulation we are hopeful and look to Christ to help us through it. This family is very much loved and can use all the help we have to offer. Please help by sharing this with anyone you feel would want to help.
