Robbie's BIG life changing surgery
Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Beverly. I am starting this fundraiser for my amazing Husband, Robbie. As some may or may not know Robbie was diagnosed with Charot Marie Tooth, which is a form of Muscular Dystrophy when he was 12 years old. Robbie started noticing things weren't right when he couldn't do a lot of things other kids his age could do. He had a lot of ankle injuries, pain, and high arches. It was pretty obvious from the start that he probably had CMT due to the fact that it runs in his family. Primarily the males. So robbies paternal grandfather, and Dad both had it, also a few other uncles and one Aunt. Once Robbies disease started progressing he was told by doctors to expect not to be walking by the time of his graduation....well thanks to God Robbie was able to walk, and has continued to walk since. Robbie and I started dating in 2009, and at that point in time he had extremely deformed feet and ankles, and had a hard time being on his feet for a long period of time, but if you know Robbie he would push though the worst pain everyday just to make sure he was able to do things with his friends and family, NEVER would he complain. He still to this day never complains! He is the strongest person I know. Once we got married in 2011 and had Harper, we made the decision that it was time to start the process of getting his disability. He was having a really hard time finding a job that he could do without being in excruciating pain. The process took over a year, and in that time frame he couldn't work at all, so you could imagine the mental tole it took on him, being a newlywed, and a new father, and feeling like he couldn't provide for his family. Thankfully Robbie was granted disability, but if you know anything about disability, it helps, but its not a lot. Shortly after that we knew we needed to do something to help Robbie because he was really deteriorating, and unable to stand or walk without having supportive shoes, or boots in his case. We decided to have Robbie fitted with his first pair of leg braces. Those really gave Robbie some sort of life back. He was able to stand and walk. He was able to go places and enjoy time with his friends and family. Although we are extremely grateful for the braces, they only worked for so long, and robbies feet continued to become more deformed to the point that we went through 3 rounds of making new braces, and none of them have fit properly. So if Robbie needs to get around our house he crawls on his knees. In doing so it has caused his knees to be sore and caliced. Robbie was at the point where he was set on amputation because his pain has become so bad that he can only be on his feet for a very short time, so he basically only gets around on his mobility scooter. So we got a referral to an orthopedic surgeon in Denver who specializes in Robbies type of Muscular dystrophy and we got the great news that Robbie is a great candidate for reconstruction surgery. The surgeon believes that once Robbie has his surgery and recovers we won't even need leg braces anymore. We are sooo beyond excited for this opportunity. BUT.....now comes the reason we are here asking for your help. Robbies surgeries are VERY complicated and he will have several surgeries within the next 2 years. Every 9-12 weeks. Which will include 6 hour surgeries, non weight bearing for 6-8 weeks EACH TIME. Robbie will be unable to help with any sort of income aside from his disability. We do have a custom tumbler business that will have to be put on hold due to the fact that Robbie is a huge contributor to our business process. So our family will be taking a HUGE hit during this time. We are not the type of people to ask for help, so if you are unable to help financially, we would love prayers for the surgeons, and for Robbies successful surgery, and speedy recovery.
