Ristorante Carpaccio's

Ristorante Carpaccio opened for business in Menlo Park, California, in 1988.  Throughout the past 32 years, countless neighbors in our community have celebrated birthdays, graduations, holidays, farewell dinners, date nights, Girl's Night Outs, business lunches a well as regular escapes from life as we saddled up to the bar to enjoy a glass of wine in between errands.

Sandy and Julie welcomed us every time we walked through their doors as if we were family members, who were sincerely missed, returning home. You could always find them asking individual guests how the family was doing, how their health was holding up or lovingly inquiring about what was new in their lives.  <How loved and valued did that make you feel when they asked you?>

Ciya was the matriarch of Carpaccio’s, sitting on her barstool adding up numbers at the end of her day, or reading the local news while answering the phone. Ciya was always was included in our “girlfriend group photos” during the multitude of celebrations we enjoyed at Carpaccios. We always had to prop her up on a chair or barstool so that she would appear to be the same height as everyone else in the picture.

Mark, who has worked for Carpaccio’s for 20 years, and who is perpetually about to make an offer on the ranch of his dreams, would always introduce everyone at the bar to one another prefaced by a little background summary of each of us.  I met SO many great people sitting at Carpaccio’s bar. <How happy were we when Mark, Roberto (25 years @ Carpaccio’s); and Daniel (20 years) offered us "just another splash"??>

Unfortunately, due to the devastating effects that Covid-19 has had on the small restaurant business, Carpaccio’s is only able to have 8 tables available to host all of us (but endless amounts of take-out.) We are quickly approaching the Fall and Winter season during which most of us will choose not to sit outside and dine in addition to potential reclosing of restaurants looming if we fall to contain the virus.

It is with the situation at hand, that I propose through this GoFundMe, to our community, to chip in whatever, you feel comfortable contributing. This will hopefully assist in financially “bridging the gap” in the hope of ensuring that we all have many, more celebrations to enjoy with one another at Carpaccios.
