Ricky’s Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
Here is a little summary of Richard (Ricky) Coste’s journey. He was diagnosed with leukemia for the second time on July 28th, 2018 after being in remission for 5 years. He was admitted into Levine Childrens hospital that same day since the cancer was more aggressive this time. After 2 months of chemotherapy the cancer was still there. On November 1st he had a bone marrow transplant. His big sister Jordan was his donor. He has been in the hospital ever since. November 15th he was put into a medically induced coma when his liver and kidneys failed as a result of the radiation he had to have prior to the transplant. He has not been able to get out of his bed and stand on his own since that day. He has had multiple infections and organ issues. He has been getting dialysis 3 times a week to help heal his kidneys. Then, on February 21st he unexpectedly went into a coma, this time of his own doing. It appears as though the t cells that he received in January were targeting an infection that reached his brain. On february 23rd the doctors felt it best to intubate him and sedate him even further. They have started him on a new course of medications to help with the inflammation in his brain. At this time his mom has stopped working full time so that she can be at the hospital every day with him. The doctors have told them that it is going to be a slow process in getting him to be awake and responsive. All we can do is pray that his body is strong enough to fight his way back to us all! Please consider donating to help with Ricky’s expenses!
