Reunite to bring water where it's needed!

Who are we?

4Water is an international social enterprise that fundraises for WaterAid by teaching skills classes (e.g. salsa, yoga, language), helping marginalized communities in countries like Madagascar and Pakistan gain access to some of their most basic human rights: clean water, a decent toilet and a place to wash their hands (also known as "WASH").

Founded in 2014, we are run exclusively by volunteers so that 100% of our profits go to WaterAid after basic expenses. Last year Cph4Water managed to donate 90.000 DKK to WaterAid, bringing us closer to our goal of everyone everywhere having access to clean water and sanitation.

4Water: Sharing Passions, Building Communities and Changing Lives.

What are we doing?

This year, we will host the yearly 4Water Congress. Volunteers from 4Water groups around Europe come together to exchange knowledge and inspiration for how to grow our community, as well as teaching extraordinary workshops and classes on dance, yoga, fundraising and entrepreneurial skills.

We expect more than 60 volunteers in total, who we will house with our local volunteers during the congress. The events will be open to the public, spreading our mission through the passion for dancing and movement, and by building our community together. On Saturday and Sunday evening we will organize social dances for up to 200 participants, including live music, DJs, and our own bar.

An event like this needs funding, and this is where we need your help!

How your money will be used?

We will be creating some revenue from the tickets we sell, but we need funding for venues, the music, and materials such as prints, t-shirts etc.

Venue: 15.000 DKK

This means paying for the rent of classrooms and venues for the workshops and social dances.

Accomodation: 10.000 DKK

This means hosting the volunteers that will travel to Copenhagen.

Live band: 25.000 DKK

We will have the salsa band Henri y su Kaché playing Saturday Night

Merchandise and PR: 15.000 DKK

This will be used to buy t-shirts, flyers, posters, and such for promoting the event and to sell during the Congress.

What have we already covered?

Our volunteers will be paying for their own transport to Copenhagen as well as their own food. Our cause has attracted enough support for us to have speakers and workshop leaders providing classes for free.

This means that the expenses we will cover with the money you donate now, will allow us to make the 4Water Congress come true, and thereby earning the money we donate after the Congress.

Your impact by supporting?

The International 4water community has been running since 2009, when it started in Glasgow. Cph4water started in 2014 just teaching Cuban Salsa classes and has been growing exponentially since, adding classes of bachata and higher-level salsa. Today we are more than 40 active volunteers, and as the latest expansion we have started our sister department in Aalborg teaching weekly classes, and in Copenhagen we have added weekly yoga classes.

Each time we are able to expand with an extra class or an extra location, that means we can reach more people, and ultimately raise more funding for WaterAid’s work. The more we can donate to WaterAid, the bigger a difference we can make worldwide.

The chosen project for 2022-2025 is the Badin district of southern Pakistan, so all our donations go to change in this area. The Badin district has been affected heavily by the flooding in 2022 and needs help rebuilding the community and ensuring safe conditions for the locals. The donations we can make these years will gift the communities in the Badin district access to clean drinking water, climate resilient decent toilets, and access to climate-resilient WASH services.

Why is it important to support our cause?

650 million live without access to safe water worldwide. 2.3 billion people do not have access to adequate sanitation. That is one in three of the world’s population.

In the area in Pakistan where the WaterAid will put 4water’s donations to use, there is on average of one toilet available for every 10 households. Following the floodings, the already vulnerable community was left with damages to agricultural land and pollution of groundwater, as well as rivers polluted with sewage water.

These numbers are way too high, and they have a big impact on health and development. Not having access to proper sanitation increases the risk of infection and diseases. Over 315.000 children die every year from diarrheal diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. That means almost 900 children a day. In Badin district in Pakistan, especially women and children are affected by the lack of access to clean functional toilets, privacy and cleaning facilities, leading to higher rates of assault and child mortality.

We believe that all people everywhere should have equal access to clean drinking water and safe options for relieving and cleaning themselves. By supporting our Congress and our work, you will not only be part of an ever growing community of people sharing a passion for learning, but also helping improve the living conditions of people around the globe.
