Reunite Family Due To War In Ukraine

Hi, My name is Jean Davis, I am Mike Savin’s billet mom. Mike came to Sioux Falls In August of last year to pursue his dream of playing hockey and getting an education in the United States. Mikes family Is from the Ukraine. Mike was leading a normal teenage life. Spending time at school and playing hockey. Having

fun and enjoying life. Mikes entire life as normal teenager changed on February 23rd when Russia attached Ukraine.

Mike was 5200 miles away from his family. He was relying on the news and social media to keep him informed on what was happening in his hometown due to cellular connection Mike had many sleepless nights, he worried about his family, friends and country. Mike was filled with so many emotions. I once told Mike that he is the strongest fifteen year old that I have ever known. Mike’s mom and little brother fled Kiev with two suitcases and their car. Mike’s father stayed back to defend the Ukraine. Mike’s mother traveled until she reached Germany. The overall goal is to help the family be reunited, to have Mike reconnect with his family. They are in need of the basic necessities of life. These funds will be used to help Mike’s family get a fresh start. Mike made the comment to me that for him it will be very hard not seeing his bedroom and home again in Kiev.

Our family feels great responsibility to help our billet son and his family to get a strong new start on their lives.
