On October 23-27, 2014 the original artwork of over 1,000 Syrian youth from Zaatari Refugee camp in Jordan will be displayed on the iconic National Mall in Washington DC.
'Peace & Hope: A Gift From the Children of Syria to the World' tells the story of Syrian children displaced by over 3 years of conflict that has left millions displaced and in need of life-saving aid. The art exhibit is an apolitical cultural diplomacy exhibit aimed at educating the American public about the plight of Syrian children & youth.
The 1/3 of a mile long canvas (536 meters - 1,760 feet) tells a story of hope. One of resilience. Of determination. Of a brighter future.
We need your help to share these powerful stories against the backdrop of the US Capitol and the Washington Monument. Help us show the world that now is NOT the time to walk away from these amazing children, rather to invest into their future.
Please support this visionary project. Help #RestoreHappy
Some photos from the canvas:
(Above picture says: "A letter from the Children: My beloved Syria, we would like to return to our homes.")
(Some of the drawings are so sweet, and some are a stark reminder of reality of the lives of these poor children suffering from over 3 years of conflict.)
The art installation is part of a larger public affairs initiative, #RestoreHappy, organized by Beats, Rhymes and Relief, which will feature a celebrity benefit concert in January 2015 (www.oneworldsyria.com)
