We’ve heard a lot about Nurses and Doctors during this pandemic, and it’s well deserved. But every hospital has Respiratory Therapists, who deliver treatments, prone patients, dial in ventilator setting, and set up Nasal High Flow devices so these patients can get well. They often suggest the application of said therapies to doctors, manage those therapies hourly and work together with nursing to deliver the best patient care.
To further the field of Respiratory, I will be working with Molloy College here on Long Island. My friend Al Quinones, DHA, MA, FACHE, RRT-ACCS-NPS, RPFT, RPSGT, CCT, AE-C is the Respiratory Care Program Director at Molloy. Together, we aim to set up a scholarship fund for 1 incoming student. Someone who has chosen this field, knowing they’ll be in harms way. Someone who will impact the lives of patients while the pandemic exists and long after it has gone. Someone who chooses to enter this noble profession.
