Richmond! Resolve Bodyworks + our staff need your help!

Like most businesses in the area, Resolve was forced to shut down due to the water crisis.

Over the last week, we canceled over 84 appointments and lost at least $11,500 in money through the door.

Without a functional toilet, sanitary handwashing solutions, or laundry, a high-volume massage therapy practice cannot operate. We average 15-20 appointments every day and have to keep laundry going constantly. We brainstormed until we were nauseous and considered a number of out-of-studio laundry solutions, but it simply didn’t feel ethical to consider using so much water washing mountains of sheets while so many people didn’t have water in their homes at all.

Our massage therapists are independent contractors and do not make money if they are not massaging. This week’s loss of work on top of illnesses and two snow days has many of our people struggling. With no guarantee that the city is going to compensate small businesses or workers, this is scary for all of us.

As a small business with an even smaller profit margin, Resolve has no way to compensate our massage therapists or desk staff for lost work, and covering the next month’s payroll + basic operating expenses is going to be a challenge. We are still a new business recovering from the setbacks of the pandemic, and every little bit matters.

There is no expectation of contribution, but any support you can offer will go first to compensating our staff for lost work, and if there is anything left over after matching our staff's anticipated pay, it will go towards Resolve’s basic operating expenses. "Anticipated pay" is calculated based on actual appointments we canceled this week and actually scheduled hourly work.
