Ghostie needs knee surgery!!!
She has torn her CCL, the canine equivalent of the human ACL. Her left knee is blown out and she can't put any weight on it. This is a progressive injury which finally gave way, requiring a fairly involved surgery known as a TPLO.
My poor baby is incapacitated. I have to carry her up and down stairs to take her out, and lift her up to get on the bed. Even her daily trips to the park are vastly diminished. She came from abuse and neglect, chained to a tree in the yard and left that way to have a litter of puppies while she figured life out.
She was rescued and passed to a heavily addicted man on the street who had her tied to a fire hydrant. He asked me if I wanted a dog, and just like that, my very real prayers were answered. She was mine, and what a bundle of dog! Her nickname is Smaug, short for Smaugasaur.
Anyone that knows her will tell you that while I may have rescued her, she rescued me as well. She is absolutely my child and part of me, bringing love and life to others. She's a therapy dog to many experiencing homelessness, addictions, and other challenges, even sometimes traveling to do so. She's absolutely my personal emotional support dog, and I will go to any lengths to take care of her.
Her vet has recommended a surgeon in Tupelo, MS. They gave me an estimate of $3,300-$3,800, which is far less than $6,000+ here in town, even with two hours of travel each way. Then there will be support costs while she recovers for 10 weeks.
I simply do not have that much available and am sorting out how to piece it together. Any little bit will help. This situation is extremely tenuous and absolutely requires attention.
Please help support her in her real time of need. She gives so much love to others, now it's our turn to help her once again chase Bouncy Squeaky to her heart's content!
Thank you so very much for your help. Please share and spread the word! ♥️♥️
