Rescue a Refugee Dad & his 5 kids!

Let’s help make a new life for Nestor and his 5 children ages (2 to 11). This is a newly arrived refugee family from Burundi.  The family fled the horrific civil war in the Congo and ran to Burundi.  Even there the social unrest and class/tribal prejudice continued.  Last year they were transferred to the US by the UN and Exodus Refugee Services.  Then, through an unfortunate series of events, Nestor wound up with sole custody of his kids.  This, of course, creates the dilemma of working to provide financially while caring for the children through illness and other life challenges.

Nestor and his children currently live in a 1-bedroom apartment in Indianapolis.  His dream is to be a Truck Driver, but he cannot afford the time off to take the CDL training.  He drove a truck while living in Africa.

Our little church has worked with several refugee families and we were recently honored by Exodus Refugee Services as their Community Partner of the Year. We would like to help change Nestor and his children’s lives forever.

We are raising $9,500 dollars to do the following:

·      Pay 6 months of rent in a better apartment closer to our church.  This will allow our members to help with childcare and other needs.

·      Pay three to six months of bills to allow Nestor to complete his CDL training and find a job as a truck driver.  Truck driving jobs are plentiful in our area.
