Reporter's Lawsuit Against Mayor Lori Lightfoot

Thomas Jefferson once said, "When the speech condemns a free press, you are hearing the words of a tyrant." Unfortunately, the word "tyranny" accurately describes what is happening in Chicago between Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Chicago reporter William J. Kelly.

Last week, unpopular Mayor Lori Lightfoot barred Chicago Reporter William J. Kelly from her press conferences because she didn't like his tough questions on crime For the past twelve months, Mr. Kelly's questions to Mayor Lightfoot have regularly gone viral with millions of views, leading many to question her policies and why they are failing. We can't allow Mayor Lightfoot to prevent reporters like William J. Kelly from doing his job. The people deserve reporters like William J. Kelly, who is willing to stand up and ask powerful politicians the tough questions they deserve to be asked. The people deserve a voice. We cannot allow politicians like Mayor Lightfoot to violate Mr. Kelly's constitutional right to freedom of the press under the First Amendment.
