Replace Jesse’s stolen wheelchair bike

Hi, my name is Haelyi! My brother, Jesse, had cancer when he was a baby. He’s been in a wheelchair since the age of 6. He’s an active member in the community, and an advocate for people with disabilities. In his spare time, with few resources, he makes care kits for people in need. He’s the most selfless and compassionate person I’ve ever known. Despite having a life long disability, and endless disadvantages, he remains positive, caring, and kind hearted. He never complains about the difficulties he’s had to face as a person with a disability. Jesse would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Jesse’s primary mode of transportation is his wheel chair bike. This is a specialty bike that he attaches to his wheelchair, allowing him to navigate sidewalks and roads. He uses his bike to get to and from work, to the grocery store, to appointments, or anywhere else he needs to be.

On January 23, he used his bike to do his weekly grocery shop at the Marysville Safeway. He parked the bike outside and did his grocery shopping. When he came out, his bike had been stolen! This is such a unique bike, that whoever stole it probably didn’t even know what it was. Jesse searched all of the local pawn shops, posted on social media asking if anyone has seen it, and asked members of his church and community to keep an eye out.

He has renters insurance, but they will only cover $1500 of the stolen bike. The cost of replacing it is almost $3000 before tax and shipping.

He didn’t want to ask for help to replace it, as he believes other people are in greater need than him. But I insisted, and have no problem asking friends, family, and strangers to help my altruistic brother!
