Replace David Bain's Stolen E-bike

Dave's E-bike was stolen! For those of us who know Dave, you know he bikes just about everywhere he goes. Everywhere. To meetings where he dedicates his time protecting salmon habitat, sharing his knowledge about killer whales, saving open space and forests, testing water quality, volunteering on the board of Sound Action, and serving on the Salmon Recovery Council. I probably missed a dozen other amazing selfless things Dave does for our environment that he bikes to and from.
This fall Dave was at a meeting at the UW Seattle campus and his E-bike was stolen.
I've heard many times Dave introduce himself at meetings by saying, "I'm Dave, and I'm with everyone" as a joke for his committment to many groups. Now is the time when all of us need to be with Dave and help replace his stolen E-bike.
Dave is a leader in "walking the walk" when it comes to environmental stewardship. For those of us who have a harder time driving less, Dave is an inspiration. He's pedaled more than the circumfrence of the earth!
A replacement E-bike would run Dave about $2,500 and I've padded the request to cover tax, shipping, and processing fees.

"I’m a killer whale biologist who helped write Canada’s killer whale recovery strategy. In the course of preparing the plan, it became obvious that how we use land inland is a greater problem for them than what we do at sea. A big part of the problem is living in a society built around cars. So, I wanted to find an alternative to driving, and decided to give an electric bike a try."
"What’s your most proud moment?"
"Rescuing the killer whales entrapped in Barnes Lake in Alaska. It required planning the actions of a team of volunteers by predicting how the whales would respond to the people and the environment, how kelp would respond to tides, and doing it accurately enough to meet fairly precise timing requirements. It also required the ability to navigate the bureaucracy, whose first response was an offer to arrest me. It was really rewarding to see the whales feed under a double rainbow right after they were freed."
"What are some of your favorite cycling experiences?"
"Watching people change from wondering whether I need a ride to thinking I’m crazy to expecting me to have ridden my bike."
"Being able to say I’ve avoided 10 tons of CO2 production."
"Getting a rain jacket with a built-in taillight."
