Replace Abdulwahab's stolen bike
Abdulwahab is a Sudanese refugee working as a bike courier in Glasgow. During a delivery, his bike was stolen, almost certainly never to be seen again.
This is someone who's fled war in his country and then had his livelihood taken away from him in the middle of a pandemic. He had to ask friends to lend him money for the now-stolen bike, and still owes them that back, plus needs to buy a new fit-for-purpose bike so that he can keep doing his job in peace.
As Glaswegians, we need to show that we care about our refugee siblings living here. Let's get the man a new bike!
Adding the below per gofundme's request:
Who you are and where you’re from
I'm just a Glaswegian who saw the story and wanted to help raise money for a replacement bike.
Your relationship or contact to the intended recipients of your fundraiser's donations. If you've added a beneficiary to withdraw, be sure their name and relationship are shared on the fundraiser.
I have no relationship with Abdulwahab, but have reached out to the journalist who wrote about his bike being stolen so that they can hopefully act as intermediary. I have had no luck finding him on Facebook, and am looking elsewhere to see if there's any way to directly get in contact.
A clear explanation of how the donations will be spent
Any and all of the funds donated will be sent directly to Adbulwabah's bank account, once he has provided details. Nothing will be moved until then, and all donations are his and his alone. It is imagined that he will spend donations on a replacement electric bike so he can continue with his work, plus paying back the friends who had lent him money to buy the now-stolen bike.
Your plan for delivering the fundraiser's donations to the intended recipient(s)
I've been in touch with Abdulwabah via the journalist and we can get the money transferred over to his bank account directly.
