Hello everyone! I have made this gofundme page to try to help take some of the financial burdon off of my family's plate.
I am a college student at Marian University and my two other sisters are in college as well. My mother is a grade school teacher and my father is staying at home on a daily basis due to him being on disablity.
In 2001, my dad had major back surgery where he had 2 vertebrae replaced with metal wedges and titanium rods. He has also been living with a Nephrostomy tube (for those of you who don't know what this is, its a tube that goes into your kidney and comes out your side to help the kidneys function properly) for about a half a year now. My dad is a United States Marine Corp. veteran and is living with stage IV cancer. He has been through radiation in the past, as well as an 11 hour surgery to try and remove cancerous spots. He is also currently getting chemotherapy every other week. And for those of you who don't know how much this costs, its roughly $20,000 per treatment.
This puts a huge toll on our family. Not only mentally, emotionally, and physically, but financially as well. On top of all of this, our house is in desperate need of repairs. With everything else going on, we have been putting the house on the back burner and not giving it the attention it needs. Our house was built in 1896 and it is literally falling apart becuase of the old age and its disrepair.
Some of you have asked what exactly is in need of repairs. Here are a few: leaky roof, new carpeting (from the leaky roof), electric rewiring, plumbing, foundation, siding, flooring, etc. The main goal is to make sure the house is safe and reliable.
As the weather is getting colder, we really need help to be able to make sure our house is fit and stable for the winter.
