Repair works for Fishcombe Public Toilets

Donation protected
We came in this morning after a lovely day off, as normal-  we went to open to Toilets ready for the general public to use -  to find that they have been broken into and vandalised.

This person (s) had broken into the donation box (which we empty daily because we know better than to leave money overnight).  The decorations, flowers and soap have been stolen too (?!?!), along with the padlock and the bolt had been physcially snapped off with some sort of tool which has also damaged the door.

We open these toilets to the public on a voluntary basis. We clean them (which is the least favourite job of all time), we ensure they're safe for public use (which included cleaning up a human poo which was left all over the doorway at one point this Summer).  We pay for the products, waste removal, insurance and all the background stuff that goes into running toilets for you to use.

The question we are now presented with is, what's the point? This isnt the first time this has happened, these have been broken into before, and quite frankly I don't want to spend the generous toilet donations on stuff like padlocks-that money is meant for materials to keep them nice for you!

Some of you will instantly think to advise us by 'Get CCTV down there, get an alarm system' and we agree with you,  but guys, this stuff costs money...and effort and time.

All of which is precious whilst running a business in the current climate.

To try and move passed this rather than sitting and moan about it (which I will do for today) I've decided to set up a fundraiser page.

We now need a new bolt, padlocks, keys, stock for cleaning, cctv, alarm system in order to keep them open for the rest of the season, and safe/secure over Winter.

So, as one member of the community to another, if you use the toilets here at Fishcombe Cove,  please help us by donating time, money or your services to get them safe, secure and nice again.

Thank you for reading this,  thank you for your messages and thank you to all those who donate.  I apologise if this messagd is a bit blunt/negative but it's important to share with you what has happened and I'm just a bit bloomin cross about it.
