Remi's Future

Remi is a talented, bright and very strong young woman who has had to deal with a lot more than the average 18 year old. Remi's father is an amputee and confined to a wheelchair and has been unable to work for many years. At age 16, Remi, her mom and dad lost their family home and two cats to a devasting house fire. Nearly all of the family's possesions were lost. The family was living in a hotel for several months when very suddenly and tragically, Remi's mom, Janet, passed away just days before Thanksgiving in 2015. Remi's dad was unable to care for her so Remi has been living with friends since the day her mom died.
Miraculously, despite all that she was going through, Remi completed all her college applications, took the SAT's, graduated high school and was accepted to several great schools, including Montclair State University, which she will attend this fall. Remi is on her own now, and although Montclair State has awarded her very generous financial aid for her first year and she will be able to live on campus, there are still many expenses ahead for her - some tuition, books, furnishings for her dorm, and everyday living expenses. We also don't know if she will receive financial aid for college beyond her freshman year.
Every penny Remi can save now will mean there will be more for her to fall back on after she graduates. In four short years she will have to find a fullt-time job, pay rent and make it on her own. There is no home for her to move back into after college, as her dad now lives in a full-time care facility. So, we are asking for help for Remi, please, now. Any help you can give - either by making a donation or by purchasing one of the items on her dorm "wish list" registry, will help her with current expenses, and maybe also give her some savings to fall back on later. Remi has already proven that she can accomplish great things, despite all she has been through. She just needs a little help to ensure that her future is bright and full of the opportunities every young person deserves.
