Celebrating our Joanee
Donation protected
Joanee Schreves passed away at 5:20am on Tuesday September 1, 2020 from Stage 4 Lung Cancer.
She began Hospice at home on July 18th with John S. Douglas, her partner of fifteen years as her care giver.
We are setting up this fund drive to help with her final expenses.
Please consider donating in lieu of gifts or flowers.
Joanee worked as a court appointed attorney with Family Court for 30+ years and retired only 2 years ago when her health began to deteriorate. She has helped hundreds and hundreds of our most vulnerable parents and children. Now she needs our help.
Up until recently Joanee has been an active member of the theatre community. She has performed almost everywhere in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Joanee is a three time Grand Award winning actress. She won for her roles as Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret with Circle in the Park and as Mrs. van Daan in Jewish Theaters production of the Diary of Anne Frank and as part of the ensemble for LLC Classic Theatre's Quilters. She is a gifted singer, dramatic actress and comedienne. The photo is from a production of Vanities at Stage 3 and is provided by MaryAne Olsen.
Joanee has been a member of Sons and Daughters Club on Hamilton Street and has often been heard singing on their famous Karaoke nights belting out Me and Bobby McGee and A Piece of My Heart like Janis Joplin.
Is you have every shared a day in court, or a drink at the Cottage Bar, or a laugh backstage with Joanee please consider donating.
Thank you for any support you can give at this difficult time.
