Remembering Ashley, Supporting Her Family

Marianne Ashley Agusto passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas. Ashley ultimately succumbed to injuries she received in a vehicular accident in early November. At the time of her departure, Ashley was surrounded by her loving family.
As the first daughter of Wilfredo and Elorde Agusto, Ashley was born in Seattle, Washington on Halloween, of 1990. She was raised in Maui, Hawaii, alongside her younger sister, Kristianne “Tintin” Agusto. Ashley truly took pride in being a Maui local, and never forgot her roots.
After graduating from Baldwin High School in 2008, she attended one year at Kapiolani Community College in Oahu, majoring in Liberal Arts. Discontented with Honolulu city life and still unsure of her future career goals, Ashley returned home to continue her education at the University of Hawaii Maui College. In the meantime, Ashley worked as a coffee barista at the Kahului Airport Starbucks location and a hostess at Koa’s Seaside Grill on Front Street in Lahaina. The rapport she built with returning tourists, familiar locals, and complete strangers inspired her love of travel. In 2014, Ashley entered a rigorous and competitive training course with American Airlines and was selected to join their Flight Attendant team. She relocated to their main hub in Dallas, Texas and in spite of her sheltered island life, she made the most of her newfound ability to spread her wings and fly. Throughout her career, Ashley visited many countries including Peru, Mexico, Japan, Germany, Costa Rica, as well as all 50 states of America.
Ashley leaves behind her three children, Rylan, Malia (Trent A.) and Jayley (Johnny L.). She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. Ashley treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She took her “goons” (her own special term of endearment) on many adventures whether it was the playgrounds at home or amazing journeys abroad, they experienced a variety of cuisines and cultures. Their favorite dish though, was one made by mom - kalua pork plate lunch, mac salad included! “Das da good one,” as Ashley would have described it. We are very grateful that she got to hear their beautiful voices one last time before she passed.
Besides her children, Ashley is survived by her parents, Wilfredo and Elorde, sister, Tintin, sister-in-law, Mireille S., and many aunties, uncles and cousins. Family reunions were always a big event, full of laughter, joy, karaoke, poke, and green bottles. Ashley’s signature rendition of Bakit Pa will be missed dearly, and the closing call with her sister’s chaotic version of Bohemian Rhapsody will forever be incomplete without Ashley’s harmonization. The family will be a little quieter now, as Tintin no longer has her ate to team up with to crack jokes with dad that made mom roll her eyes. This indescribable loss will be etched in their hearts forever.
Despite this sudden and unexpected tragedy, Ashley had always wanted to make her mark on the world, and she truly has. As an organ donor, she has granted new life to many families during this holiday season. Because of Ashley’s gifts, multiple blessed people can experience new life: watching their grandchild receive their high school diploma; giving away their child at a wedding ceremony; or even hearing the laughter of their first grandchild for the first time. Because of this selfless act, Marianne Ashley Paguyo Agusto will forever be memorialized on the Wall of Heroes at the Donor Memorial Garden in San Antonio, TX.
Let us honor her memory by celebrating her life and cherishing our own. We are reaching out to ask for your support in helping a family who has recently experienced a great loss. Three young children have been left behind after the passing of their parent, the youngest now being cared for by their elderly grandparents, who are both retired and on a fixed income. Any contribution you can make would help provide for their immediate needs, including food, clothing, and educational support. Your generosity can make a big difference in their lives during this difficult time. Thank you for your kindness and compassion.
