My uncle was shot multiple times while his children sat in the car and watched their father fight for his life.
What should have been a normal moment turned into a nightmare when a man from their own neighborhood opened fire. My uncle was shot four times twice in the chest and twice in the arm while his children were in the back seat and witnessed everything. By the grace of God, the kids were not physically harmed, but the emotional trauma they carry is deep and lasting.
My uncle has come out of surgery, and we are incredibly thankful to God that it went well. The doctors are hopeful, but his recovery will be long and difficult. Before this tragedy, he was already battling serious medical conditions, including multiple sclerosis, and this violent act has only made his road harder.
We truly believe God’s hand was present that day in sparing the children, guiding the surgeons, and keeping my uncle alive. We are leaning heavily on faith, prayer, and the love of others as we walk through this unimaginable season.
The person responsible lived in their neighborhood, and because of what happened and what we later learned about additional violence the family no longer feels safe returning home. They are living in fear, especially the children who witnessed their father nearly lose his life.
My uncle is the heart of his household. He drove his wife to and from work, cared for the kids, and did everything he could despite his own health struggles. With him hospitalized and unable to work, the family is now facing overwhelming emotional and financial stress.
We are asking for help to give this family what they need most right now: a safe place to heal, away from the scene of this tragedy. Donations will go toward relocation costs, living expenses during recovery, and helping the children find stability and peace after such a traumatic event.
My uncle is one of the kindest people you could ever meet someone who avoids conflict, helps others whenever he can, and would give the shirt off his back without hesitation. Now, he and his family need help.
Whether through a donation, a share, or a prayer, thank you for standing with our family. We are deeply grateful for every act of kindness and every moment of support during this incredibly difficult time.
