Relief 4 Rockport!

My name is Catherine Hyland and my husband is Kevin. We live in San Antonio where we attend Life Point SA Church. A few years ago we organized an effort to help the victims of a large tornado in Moore, Oklahoma. We were amazed at the devastation, but more importantly we were amazed at the outpouring of love from many of you during that disaster.
I am reaching out to you again to help the victims of yet another disaster. As many of you know Rockport, Texas was recently devastated by Harvey, a Category 4 Hurricane. My family has vacationed in that area for years and we have many friends in that area. We are organizing a relief effort for some of the victims of this unbelievable tragedy. The devastation is overwhelming. So, in an effort to be more targeted in our help, we reached out on Facebook to friends to see who we could assist directly. We have 6 families who have basically lost everything. These families are relatives of our friends Carrie Jo Fry, Sara Garcia, and others. There is one couple whose mobile home was totally destroyed due to a large tree falling on it and numerous broken windows and water damage. It was an older home and they had no insurance on it. This same couple has a daughter whose employer's business was totally wiped out. She has two sons, ages 11 and 13 and they also lost everything in their home. Three other families are in the same situation.
So, this is the plan. We are organizing a team of 10-15 people to go down to Rockport later this week to clean up the debris at these homes and salvage what we can. We plan to setup a food truck and our crews at Church Unlimited in Rockport. We are taking generators, lights, and tools. We will also be delivering supplies, such as water, non-perishable food, hygiene kits, and other items. We will use the food truck to serve hot meals to the volunteers and homeowners who are working in that area.
The money raised from this fundraiser will go towards providing for the immediate needs of these families (food and shelter), purchasing supplies to feed volunteers, and purchasing supplies to recover, clean, and store what we can for the people who lost homes. Mildew is already setting in and has damaged many of their belongings. There are numerous trees that have fallen on their homes. This morning I setup a Checking Account at USAA specifically for this purpose.
If you can help in any way, we would surely appreciate it. We plan to head down to Rockport by at least Thursday, if not sooner, so please spread the word and let's not just meet this goal of $5,000, let's exceed it!
