Spende geschützt
As some of you may know, my family is setting off on an exciting adventure to
South Africa this year. Part of our trip is to Kwa Zulu Natal, where we’ll be volunteering with the amazing charity Wild Tomorrow, a non-profit wildlife conservation organization dedicated to the protection of threatened and endangered wildlife and the habitats they depend on for survival.
During our visit we hope to:
- Work alongside Wild Tomorrow’s team of rangers, to find and remove snares left by poachers.
- Visit the children at the local creches (pre-schools) that Wild Tomorrow supports.
Early childhood development is important in providing a solid foundation for future
learning, behaviour , and health.
- Volunteer at the local rhino orphanage. The rhino poaching crisis is getting out of hand in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. (In 2023, there were an astonishing 325 rhinos poached for their horns in the region of KZN alone). Rhino orphans are the most innocent victims of the poaching crisis.
- Work alongside Wild Tomorrow’s team of Green Mambas – this could be planting
trees, removing alien/invasive plants, etc.
- Taking part in a bird banding exercise on Wild Tomorrow’s Greater Ukuwela Nature
Reserve, contributing to their ongoing species list and data collection. The region is home to over 500 species of birds!
- Helping with a rhino intervention where we will personally take part in a rhino trimming procedure. The rhino’s horns are removed (at no harm to the rhino!) to deter poachers. This is a costly procedure that involves a vet, helicopter pilot, and ground crew team.
We have paid for our trip completely, and would be extremely grateful for any donations to help support the work of Wild Tomorrow. Even £1 is worth so much more over there and every penny goes towards supporting their work.
Some examples of what your donation will support:
- £22 feeds 70 school children for 1 day
- £30 feeds an orphaned rhino for 1 month
- £50 buys a ranger a new pair of boots
-£146 feeds 35 school children lunch daily for 1 month
- £292 sponsors 1 of Wild Tomorrow’s rangers for 1 month
- £408 feeds Wild Tomorrow’s team of 8 rangers for 1 month
- £1025 purchases a GPS monitoring tag for an endangered species such as pangolins or vultures
- 1098 funds the trimming of 1 rhino’s horn
