The Karachi Bachao Tehreek is a people's movement for those affected by the anti-poor development across Pakistan. While we specifically focus on Karachi, we emphasize that the current spate of real estate development is classist, turning the most vulnerable into victims of climate change.
Karachi Bachao Tehreek is raising funds to help the residents of Gujjar and Orangi Nallah, Mujahid and Wahid Colony, and Haji Leemo Goth in their fight for compensation and rehabilitation after tens of thousands of homes in their communities were demolished without due process. We also stand with Martin Quarters residents, struggling to protect Karachi's heritage neighborhood from the claws of real estate developers and INGOs.
Karachi Bachao Tehreek, along with the affectees of Gujjar and Orangi Nallah, is struggling for its rights on the streets, in neighborhoods, government and state institutions, taking the Government of Sindh to court for the way it has displaced affectees and violated their legal and human rights demanding a fair rehabilitation.
With your support, we successfully conducted the survey which aided legal battle for cheques, and some people have received their rightful cheques; however, discrepancies in the governmental process still exist, which we are trying to address.
The struggle continues with affectees fighting for their right to the city. They require your support in the data and survey work to collect accurate statistics and ensure justice for maximum affectees in fighting the advocacy battle, organizing protests, empowering neighborhoods through educational sessions, city-wide awareness campaigns to galvanize solidarity, and build an inclusive city.
Please donate to KARACHI BACHAO TEHREEK to help us in our fight against the unjust evictions, loss of human lives, social and safety networks, and community structures!
