Sudanese Refugees- Uganda Startup

Water. Education. Health Care. Food. A Home.

 There is an increasing problem in Northern Uganda, as nearly a million refugees from South Sudan have crossed over, seeking help. The majority are women and children escaping from a brutal life in their home country. It is one of the greatest humanitarian crises of our time.

For more than a decade, Uche Izuora, has been serving as a missionary in South Sudan. Originally from Nigeria, Uche followed the call to help disciple and care for the young people of South Sudan in the wake of civil war.

"I was distressed by the disorder there, the hopelessness expressed in the faces of many people, the lack of organization and infrastructure; the sight of children gathered under the trees and high shrubs, sleeping, playing games on the dirt floor, shooting the breeze while waiting for the next meal. It seemed unreal." Uche

Uche's mission is a holistic response to the suffering in the lives of people from South Sudan and Uganda. Many refugees walked for days, with what little possessions they could carry, to get to Koboko. They ignored the gnawing hunger pains, because the gnawing ache for freedom was stronger. We want to be there, with Uche, to help them rebuild their lives; so their kids can grow up in a place away from war and gunfire. Where they can be educated and empowered to do the same for others, while knowing the strength of God’s love.

To get this started, I (Alycia) need to go to Northern Uganda to meet Uche, when he is down from South Sudan. This is where the project will begin, starting with land and clean water. The land will  be bought by the end of July and this amazing project will take off.

My role is to:
* Assess the needs.
*Take videos/photos
*Do research for Adventures in Missions (Georgia)
*Help the refugees and encourage them
*Help build Uche's organization
*Set the ground work for teams to come serve long term.

This project will have Adventures in Missions out of Georgia and G42 Academy out of Spain backing it. They will be a part of the long term teams going to continue making this project a success.

But first, I need a plane ticket and transportation money to get around there!

Please help soon, as I need to be there by July 14.
Also if you want to be a part of what will be called The Furnace Academy in Northern Uganda, get a hold of me. It will involve micro-enterprise businesses, schools, orphan care, working farms, community, sports club, etc.

"I'm learning that some tragedies don't need quick fixes. Children are delicate, needing careful attention and expert intervention in times of grief. These kids need help now." Uche
