Refugee Students at BCS

Many of you know a little background about the refugee students at Briarmeadow (where my kids go to school). For those who don't know, at our school, where our student population is so diverse that over 40 languages are spoken, we have been blessed to have "received" 13 of the most wonderful refugee students. About a week or two ago, I first reached out via Facebook looking for a translator that could help us communicate basics with the students and their families. Through the power of social media, we had a Pashto/English-speaking volunteer on campus within 48 hrs translating for us so we could get to know these kids for the first time.

I am, again, unapologetically reaching out for help for these kids. Many of them need basics. We (the BCS PTO) have organized a way to get the students refillable water bottles, some Pashto-English books for our school library and classroom bookshelves, some snacks, and other necessities.

There are now urgent transportation needs, so these families will not have to walk to school. They don't live far by car, but the walk is not short, and currently, they're all walking to and from school. Money raised here will help to pay to have a bus service pick up the kiddos, get them to school, and take them home in the afternoons. Any money raised over the goal will go toward other needs the families have (clothing, shoes, supplies, housewares, etc.).
