Fundraising for my Dad and Bristol After Stroke

Donation protected
Thank you for supporting my fundraising page to donate towards a recumbent bike for my dad. The money we raise will go towards purchasing the bike and a percentage will go to Bristol after Stroke. See link below on an example of a bike I am looking to purchase. A second hand bike can cost anywhere from around £1500 +.

Back in June 2022, my Dad had a Stroke - this meant he is unable to work as he used to and this has come as a huge shock to our family. He has now been diagnosed with early- stage Prostate cancer and will be undergoing treatment soon. He has always been an active family man; enjoying scuba diving, kayaking and his most recent hobby of remote controlled racing cars.

I would like to purchase a recumbent bike for my Dad to continue to support him with being active and not having the worry about his balance. He doesn't feel his balance will allow him to ride a standard push bike and therefore a recumbent bike can allow him to ride a bike independently and safely.

I would also like to donate a percentage to Bristol After Stroke (BAS). BAS is a local charity to where I live and the team I work for (Integrated Community Stroke Service in South Gloucestershire -ICSS). BAS help people rebuild their lives after having a Stroke by supporting them and their families.

Myself, Nathan (my partner), some friends and work colleagues will be running a collective 50 miles throughout the week of w/c 8th May. I have chosen 50 miles as this is the approximate distance of the border of South Gloucestershire. This is a large area which my team cover. To run 50 miles around the whole of South Gloucesteshire in one day is a lot and this is why we are going to complete over the course a week and break it down into smaller chunks for us to run. We aren't going to run the border, however we will be covering the miles. We will upload all individual runs on FB.

As part of ICSS, we help so many people within South Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas after they have had a Stroke. BAS do an amazing job with their support also. Our team are very grateful to them and the support they give to our patients and this is why I would like to donate some money to them too.

Any of you who know me know that I am not a runner and this is a challenge for me!

I would like to take this time to say how much I appreciate my friends and work colleagues who are taking part in the run with me.

Many thanks for your time in reading this post.
