Veteran & First Responder Recreational Therapy

We're thrilled to announce our goFundMe fundraiser. First and foremost, we want to emphasize that your contribution is valued based on what feels comfortable for you. There's absolutely no obligation or pressure to support us; we genuinely appreciate every individual who demonstrates that the spirit of caring for our veterans is still alive in America.

We're excited to share that we've acquired a 70-acre property for our headquarters in Fort Stanton, equipped to accommodate and nourish up to 50 veterans and first responders. With over 10 therapy horses, an abundance of fishing gear, and an extensive network of trails, our vision is to host two programs per month for veterans seeking support. After traditional treatments, many veterans still grapple with issues like PTSD or MST. This is where recreational therapy steps in, offering a unique alternative—no pills, no mandatory therapy sessions. Instead, your therapy session involves connecting with a horse, be it "Baby" or "Cowboy" or any of our therapy horses assigned during your time in the equine program.

Nothing compares to a bit of rest and relaxation for those who truly need it. Often, veterans may not openly admit to their struggles, and it's crucial, especially at 2 am when their thoughts become overwhelming. At Healing America's Heroes (HAH), we provide veterans with tools, techniques, and a rationale that guides them towards a positive mindset, extending beyond their time with us.

HAH was born in response to the alarming statistic of 22 veteran suicides per day reported in 2013. While we hope that number has decreased, we acknowledge the ongoing challenge. We are steadfast in our commitment to offering help. Whether a veteran is currently struggling or not, our fly fishing and equine programs cater to everyone.

Should you choose to contribute to our cause, your donation will directly support operational costs at our new facilities—covering bills, maintenance, upkeep, and caring for our therapy horses. Your generosity enables us to pave the way for the next program, and we are honored to serve the veterans and first responders who have been part of the HAH community.
