Reclaim Loafers (QUEER SPACE)

Hello

My name is Sarah Hanley, 24 years on earth, Queer human; I am attempting to raise funds for the auction of Loafers' bar, which is due to take place next February the 17th; I have no idea what the expected figure is to secure the establishment, but let's see what we can do, if and when we reclaim one of Irelands longest running LGBTQ+ bars (set up by Derek Gerrity in 1983)

My intention is to create a space for our community where drink and drugs are not the only options, a space where freedom of expression is celebrated, with a stage for all performers (day or night). I would love for our Queer family to have their print on this establishment in the creation, maintenance and constant evolution in whatever way they imagine their safe space.

We could make something Beautiful!

BeLonG To:

BeLonG To Youth Services which is the national organisation supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI+) young people in Ireland. Since 2003, they have worked with LGBTI+ young people, between 14 and 23 years, to create a world where they are equal, safe, and valued in the diversity of their identities and experiences. They also advocate and campaign on behalf of young LGBTI+ people, and offer a specialised LGBTI+ youth service with a focus on mental and sexual health, alongside drug and alcohol support. Who respond to the needs of LGBTI+ young people in Ireland and help them thrive.

Sexual Health West

Who offer support regarding issues linked with their HIV or STI concerns, and help find other resources for other areas of concern when it is appropriate and with their agreement.

One-To-One Support

The support service coordinator is available to meet with anyone in relation to all aspects of HIV/STIs. They offer free one-to-one client support including pre-and post-test support.

Rapid HIV Testing

We offer free HIV testing across the region at various locations. The HIV testing gives a result in less than five minutes, and the test involves a simple finger prick.

Telephone / Email Support

They offer telephone, email, WhatsApp and Zoom support to those who are unable to meet face to face.

Liasion

Their co-ordinator liaises with other service providers on behalf of our clients. Referrals are also made where necessary.

Peer Support

They aim to facilitate Peer Support, by arranging gatherings with the peer group or organising befriending support. Regular seminars are held with professional speakers on such topics as treatments, nutrition, personal development or legal issues around HIV.
