A tornado hit my house on Monday night (July 28, 2025).

It will cost 18 grand, which will wipe out my savings. At 60, this is a scary place to be. I don't dare touch my retirement savings; it is all I have. (The total includes fees I will incur)

I praise God that no one was hurt, and all my animals are fine. The barn cats on the farm hunkered down somewhere but showed up for breakfast after a while the next morning.

A lot of trees were lost. Half of my shelter belt is part of that loss.

My house had the worst damage in the area. The roof was covered in heavy trees, with eight holes punched into it, which created water damage in various areas of the house. The apex of the roof is crushed and will need to be replaced end-to-end. Insulation needs to be replaced, and the remaining wood dried out to prevent mould. The gutters and siding will be replaced. Inside will need new drywall for the ceiling and walls. My bathroom and the two side wings received most of the inside damage.

I included a picture of what I needed to dig out before the insurance adjuster and roof guy come on Tuesday. One entire wing (on the right) is buried. Strips of dirt are now where the tornado took my grass and topsoil away.

What really confused me was that the tree removal is not covered because it is considered an act of God. However, hail damage is covered. Baffling!

So, before the adjuster could come out, I had to pay a crew of men to remove all the trees from all sides of the house and the roof. This cost $9,000 right away. My deductible is also $9,000.

This amount does not include the rest of the cleanup that needs to be done. My walking trail and the fire road are completely covered in fallen trees, my neighbour's corn crop, rocks, and soil. A mess! That will happen as I have the additional funds to hire out the tree crew once more. My immediate need is to raise 18 grand (Plus fees) to cover this emergency without wiping out my entire savings. I pray you can help. Prayers are needed also.
