Help Jamaican Families Recover After Hurricane Melisa
Who I am: My name is Donna Dolphy. I am Jamaican-born and a Canadian citizen. Since moving to Canada as a teenager, I have traveled back and forth to my home communities in Jamaica, building strong friendships, watching children grow, and being part of the life of these families.
Where I’m from: I was born in Jamaica, and my heart remains deeply connected to the communities of my childhood and the Highlands I recently visited.
My relationship to the parties I’m raising funds for: I have personally met and built relationships with several families in the community, including the healer who produces black Jamaican healing castor oil and her family. Over the years, I’ve supported them with gifts and small donations. These families are part of my extended community.
How the funds will be spent:
Funds will go directly to the families I know to address urgent needs caused by Hurricane Melisa:
1. Emergency food supplies: Providing meals for families who are desperately in need.
2. Support for children: Helping children go back to school with supplies, uniforms, and support to continue their education.
3. Emergency home and business repairs: Materials and support to repair or replace roofs, rebuild homes, and help small businesses restart.
Our the starting goal we will be able to help about three families. With your help, we can expand this support to many more families in urgent need. Every donation will be carefully accounted for and used exactly as described, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Thank you for helping families I know and love begin to rebuild their lives after this devastating hurricane.
