Rebuild a Family's Home After Derecho Storm
Donation protected
The Derecho Storm of June 2025 was a doozy for the Kangas family!
In the storm, my cousin’s family of 6 had significant water damage to their house, lost many personal belongings, and all of their outbuildings were destroyed, which resulted in them being displaced from their home for an unseeable future. The house currently has significant water damage which will result in a lot of the interior being gutted. The beginning of this proccess has revealed significant mold in the walls.
Because they needed to be out of their house as quickly as possible, they are now staying in a camper provided by a friend of the family.
Unfortunately, it’s taking some time to get firm numbers and a full picture as to what the financial burden will be, managing the extent of the losses, and with the house revealing more issues. They know there will be a significant amount to rebuild the outbuildings which will not be well covered by insurance, and the house may result in additional expenses as well.
We are looking for prayers and support for the Kangas’, as this has been an overwhelming couple weeks... Overwhelming with God's goodness and grace but also overwhelming with big decisions and surprises.
Any sort of support or donation would be appreciated as they try to get back on their feet and put their lives back together after this crazy storm.
If you are local and able to help with tree cleanup, construction, or other forms of sweat equity, those donations would be more than appreciated as well.
Please drop a message to let me/them know if you want to come over to help out and I will send you an email to coordinate.
Thank you so much!
