Typhoon Phanfone

At least 16 people were killed by a hurricane that lashed the central Philippines on Christmas day, causing damage to homes and tourist areas. Typhoon Phanfone first landed on Tuesday in the Eastern Samar province, bringing heavy rain and storm surges. At the height of holiday travel, Typhoon Phanfone stranded many people in the sea and airports, set off landslides, flooded low-lying villages, damaged homes, downed trees, and electric poles and knocked out power throughout the provinces. On Christmas Day, one disaster response officer described Batad's devastated coastal town in the region of Iloilo as a "ghost town." You can't see anybody because there was a total blackout, you can't hear anything. The town looked like a ghost town," Cindy Ferrer of the regional Office of the Civil Defense said by phone.
I am Miss Ohio US International, and I am here to ask for help for the victim of Typhoon Phanfone. I was born in Iloilo, Philippines, and we moved to Cleveland, Ohio, about six years ago. Some of my siblings are still in the Iloilo, Philippines. In fact, my older sister went to the Northern part of Balasan to give out food for the victim of the typhoon. Also, as a previous citizen of the Iloilo, Philippines, I, too, experienced this type of hurricane before. It's hard to get back up, but when everybody unites as a community, it gives you a feeling of comfort and a view that everything will be okay again.
Our goal is to collect $500 for the first two weeks of January. Your donation will go toward foods, clothes, water, and other necessity they need.
Just at the right time, I will be going back to the Philippines this month for a reunion. And I thought, what if, I make my trip the best out of it and that is to help the victim of Typhoon Phanphone.
Let's help them start their New Year in good terms and wish that everything will be okay.
