On October 24th, 2020 Kelsey Johnson will be competing as a National Finalist in Miss Universe Canada. In lieu of receiving votes for the Peoples Choice Award, she is kindly requesting her friends, family and members of the community to contribute to her fundraiser for Feed It Forward.
‘FEED CANADIANS NOT LANDFILLS’
Feed it Forward is a Canadian not-for-profit with two main goals: to feed Canadians that are food insecure, and to reduce food waste. Their mission is to make a difference in the lives of fellow Canadians who are in need of assistance with securing nutritious food and regular balanced meals.
Working with a variety of food partners (grocery stores/restaurants and partners) in the Toronto area, Feed It Forward collects unused and unsold food otherwise destined for landfill, then rescues, repurposes and places it in the hands of those who need it most through several initiatives:
1. North America's first “pay what you can” grocery store
2. Food hamper program
3. Mobile food truck program
4. The “Feed It Forward” Farm
Feed It Forward was founded by Chef Jagger Gordon in 2014, because he could not bear the copious food waste created each time he catered an event. Since then, Feed It Forward has served over 650,000 meals and saved 1,114,200 lbs of food from landfill.

MISS UNIVERSE CANADA
Each year, Miss Universe Canada encourages delegates to raise funds for charity.
There’s never been a more urgent time to help our local communities, which is why Kelsey is seeking monetary donations for this cause.
To put things into perspective:
- 58% of all food produced in Canada (35.5 million tonnes) ends up in landfill.
- 1 in 5 families are currently living with food insecurities.
- More than one million visits were made to food banks in the GTA last year.
Canadians need to do more to assist those in need of quality nutritious food and balanced meals. This is where Feed It Forward comes in.
CONTRIBUTIONS
Those who contribute $10 or more will receive a public "thank you" on Kelsey's Instagram stories (@lipstickandluggage). Please leave your handle when processing your donation.
Those who contribute $100 or more to this campaign will receive a post in Kelsey's Instagram feed (@lipstickandluggage) to promote their products and/or services (provided that the content is appropriate and in line with her personal brand).
